Mixed Media – Open Studio
First Mondays 6:30pm – 8:30pm Starts Feb 7,2011

Mixed media 3-D and collage open studio for adults of all skill levels. Bring
your supplies and the project you are working on for helpful advice and
guidance on how to get the most from your design and mixed media
additions in a creative and supportive environment.
There are no mistakes or oops moments, only opportunities to learn new
skills and to brush up on skills you already have!
Whether you have been working in mixed media for moments or months
or years, this open studio is guaranteed to jump-start your creative
process and provide juicy new ideas and inspirations as you work side by
side with other artists. Learn and explore and take your work to a new
level with reference books, supplies and samples available for browsing in
the artist's studio.

Learn about mixed media while creating a mixed media work of art on
canvas. Use handmade papers, images, words, paint, and a variety of
mixed media additions to create a small canvas ready to hang on the wall
or give as a gift to someone special. Learn about color and design while

Have you always wanted to paint in watercolor but didn’t know where to
begin? This is the class for you. Learn the basics of watercolor techniques
and have lots of fun with the medium. Learn about watercolor papers,
manipulate paint, work wet and dry, spraying, stippling, and surprising
additions that can make painting even more fun. Please contact VisArts

Have you always wanted to try collage but weren’t quite sure how to get
started? This is the perfect class to begin! Bring images and words cut from
magazines that have meaning to you to combine with handmade papers
provided and mixed media additions for a fun and inspiring introduction
to one of my favorite mediums. Work with a variety of glues and mediums
and learn when and why to use each one on a paper substrate, with
additional information about hand-stitching items onto paper.

Start with a wooden box form provided by the artist teacher and add
handmade paper, images, words, and other mixed media additions to
design a box for treasures worthy of gift giving! Use beads, glass, and other
sparkly items to make your box shine while learning design techniques
and more about 3-dimensional art!

This class is an introduction to watercolor still life that is perfect for
beginners. Working small from a still life set-up we will explore sketching
shapes, laying down washes, and defining your subject with dry brush
work to create a finished painting on paper suitable for framing. Please
